Global Liver Cancer Data in 2020

Liver cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide. There were more than 900,000 new cases of liver cancer in 2020, and 410,000 of these cases were in China, most of which were caused by hepatitis B virus infection, causing a heavy burden of disease to individuals, families, and society.

Distribution of HBV Genotypes

Hepatitis B virus is a DNA virus, also called Dane particle, that can cause both acute and chronic infection. HBV is divided into 8 genotypes (A~H). Type B, C, and D of HBV can be divided into five subtypes: B1~B5, C1~C5, and D1~D5. Different genotypes have different clinical manifestations and pathogenicity, and different distribution regions, such as B and C, are mainly more prevalent in Asia; the D type is distributed worldwide and more prevalent in Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean, and India.
